Darkness of Night

January 6th, 2011

The darkness of night
has become the empty canvas,
painted in shades of black
by a mind unable to accept a coming day.
Eyes open without sight,
searching for what once was
a reason to take a step back
that no longer seems to stand in the way.
To step into nothing,
to embrace the quiet dark,
would be a relief—
an end to wandering blind through this maze.
I only know one thing,
there's only so much any heart
can fill up with grief,
before the darkness of night fills all days.
